Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 7, Pick 12
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: Central Division, Milwaukee Bucks, H2H, Injuries, Roto, Sleepers, Talent
Our draft blog wraps up with this pick. The season snuck up on us, so we will have to cut it short. The wrap-around pick at the end of the snake has been fun. This player was queued up by Sarge near the end of the sixth round, but a last-minute substitute happened when news of the injury broke. He seems like great value here.
Round 7, Pick 12: Andrew Bogut, PF/C, Milwaukee Bucks
Ron’s already done a piece on the fantasy impact of Bogut’s injury. This pick will not work in medium-sized active leagues. Most of us use free sites like Yahoo! fantasy sports and the injured list spot on the fantasy roster has gone the way of the dodo bird.
However, in weekly transaction leagues, or in leagues where you have a deep bench, Bogut is worth a flier. Many were predicting big things from the Australian in his sophomore campaign. Modest gains of 12-13 ppg and 7.5-8.5 boards a game., plus a block are reasonable goals. He shot 53.5% from the field last year. And if you are one of those fantasy owners that takes the “minimal damage” approach to FT%, Bogut only got to the line 2.4 times a game so his 62.9% shooting will not hurt that much.
Bogut has been known as a center with dime dishing skills. Comparisons have been made to Vlade Divac, and that should be taken as a compliment. Divac was a nice fantasy center, posting 15-10-5-like digits. The flopping is another story; thank goodness there is no stat for that.
Considering how long I waited to take a center for this team, landing Okafor and Bogut is not bad at all. Josh Smith has been the hypest drafted player since I picked him over a month ago. It pays to be ahead of the curve, doesn’t it?
Bogut is another player who can help boost up this team’s FG%. There was talk of him being ready for the opener. I prefer he take his time, and crush it when he comes back for good.
Peace. And enjoy the upcoming season.

Crazy how since we started the blog that the Smith/Wallace duo has moved up the boards considerably. If someone can land Smith at 4.1 now, they’d be elated.
Solid job wrapping things up…Now go and draft yourself a healthy big man!
