Sleeper Alert: DeMarcus Nelson

In the fantasy basketball ring, one thing is for certain: the Golden State Warriors will score a lot of points. For this reason, we had Monta Ellis going in the second or third round of most drafts until he injured himself in that now infamous moped accident. When the accident happened, we tapped former New Jersey Net Marcus Williams as the man to flourish.
But not so fast. Williams has disappointed big time, and has been shelved by Don Nelson as “third string.” So who gets the playing time? DeMarcus Neslon, that’s who.
Fig Cap: What do you get when you combine Marcus Williams with Don Nelson?
And if you’re wondering who Nelson even is, I wouldn’t look too much into it. He has pretty much landed atop the depth chart in Golden State thanks to Williams’ inability to contribute and C.J. Watson tearing a ligament in his elbow. Shooting guard Stephen Jackson will likely also see some time at the point (bonus for Jackson owners), but it will be Nelson who gets the starting nod.
The undrafted rookie will be responsible for running one of the more high powered offenses in the league. He has dual-guard eligibility in Yahoo! formats, and is only owned in a sliver of leagues. No, there are obviously no promises for production, but I would find it really hard to not assume that Nelson will at least be able to rack up a few assists with Jackson, Corey Maggette and Al Harrington all capable of 20-point nights. Keep him on your radar if you’re in need of a point guard. It may pay dividends in the end.
