Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 3, Pick 10-Andre Iguodala

Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand

The Rob Babcock era was a very painful time for Raptor fans. His drafting woes were highlighted by fellow writer Alvin, with the team taking a pass on Danny Granger twice in the 2005 NBA draft. What about the gaffe from the previous draft in which Babcock drafted Rafael Araujo before Andre Iguodala! Rafael Araujo is now manning the middle for Spartak St. Petersburg of the Russian Basketball Super League. Aggghhhh!

This season there is a lot of hype in Philadelphia around the 76ers, as they signed the much-conveted free agent Elton Brand. Let’s see what effect Elton Brand will have on Iggy’s numbers.

Dropping Dimes Two on Two Tourney: Round 3, Games 1 and 2

Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: Site Features

Hey folks, sorry for the delay in posting the next match-ups. It’s summertime and sometimes the days just blur together.

It has been an interesting off-season thus far with a few trades, a draft that pretty much went as expected at the top, and some big free agent signings. Yahoo! has a little mock draft going on for anyone jonesing for some fantasy hoop material. I imagine our pick-by-pick mock draft blog will be starting up in the next few weeks, so stay on the lookout for that.

There were no comments on last week’s picks, so I’ll be putting my own two cents on the games this week, with a little help from one of our original writers, Ron Chow. Thanks for the assist, my friend. Let’s finish off the second round and move to the semi-finals.

Dropping Dimes Two on Two Tourney: Round 2, Games 1 and 2

KG vs. TDGiven a choice, would you choose to have the career of Kevin Garnett or that of Tim Duncan? TD is hailed as one of the best players ever, maybe top ten all-time. He has four rings and is usually a shoo-in for first team All-NBA. KG has the better street cred, but has not had as much team success as Duncan over the span of their careers. KG and his Celtics took Game 1 of this year’s Finals, and the countdown is on until Game 2 tips off. While we wait, we can ponder these two giants in the game going up against each other this week in our hypothetical tourney.

Dropping Dimes Two-on-Two Tourney: Round 1, Games 11 and 12

DescriptionI come to you not even 48 hours after my beloved Cavs have been bounced from the playoffs.  Paul Pierce, well played.  Cleveland supporting cast, I wish I could stay the same. There’s a reason that LeBron James is the only Cavalier in this tournament.  All I have to say is that Danny Ferry better get to work.

With that said, last week brought us a showcase of guard talent.  This week takes a slightly different twist, bringing us a truckload of big men.  While two of them are pictured to the right, there are a few more that will deserve some consideration.

Let’s cut to the chase and get on with this week’s match-ups.

Dropping Dimes on the Daily – December 4, 2007

Jared Dudley

Cause I totally blew it with not getting up a Daily yesterday, I’m going extra big with tonight’s version. Please accept this humble offering with my sincere apologies and a pledge to do better next time. I suddenly feel like Tony Kornheiser. Um, yeah.

Anyway, a new name in fantasyland you’ll read about after the jump is this dude on the right, Jared Dudley. He now starts for Charlotte. He’s fun to watch. More importantly, his StatTracker line lighting up is fun to watch as well. Yeah, I know, but that’s what gets me excited these days.

The Fig Cap: I don’t have to wear warm-ups at the tip anymore!

2007-08 Preseason Small Forwards Ranking

Bronny is Number One!

The Fig Cap: Yeah, Bronny is pretty fly, huh?

BY THE DD BLOGGER FORMERLY KNOWN AS RON CHOW

A small forward is often referred to as a “swing man” in basketball. In the fantasy world, small forwards are often overlooked in favor of point guards and centers because of roster slot considerations. Those positions tend to have less top-tier talent to build a fantasy team around. Still, it is a certainty that a quality small forward is needed to make a run for a league championship. These types of players can “swing” the fantasy scales in your favor.

Mock Draft Central Fantasy Basketball Experts League

Description

The Fig Cap: “I fell to fourth?  FOURTH?!?!”

So, somehow, this little fantasy basketball blog of ours was able to get into this group of experts for some mocking.  We feel we held our own and were happy to join the banter as the draft moved along.  NOTE: Matt Buser made a comment along the lines of Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry bringing the Knicks back to prominence.  As a realistic Knicks fan I took umbrage… apparently, I was the only one that didn’t get that Buser was kidding.  Check out his Curry Line.  Sometimes I take my Knicks TOO seriously.  I’m such a dummy.

Anyway, you’ll also see Sarge in the mock repping Sports Grumblings, which you should definitely check out AFTER DroppingDimes.com of course.  In any case, since Sarge knows my tendencies (Take it easy out there… I meant draft tendencies), he was actually predicting some of my picks in the draft chat.  I’m convinced he’s my fantasy sports hetero-lifemate.

Here’s the rest of the experts that participated in the draft in selecting order…

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 4, Pick 4 - Jason Richardson

Jason RichardsonI apologize for the delay folks.  Sometimes, the personal life takes over for a bit – and some things are just unavoidable.  Now it’s back to the grind of getting this mock draft rolling.  With the first three rounds, “Team Nine” has selected Dwyane Wade, Andre Iguodala and Jermaine O’Neal.  This gives an incredibly talented base at both guard positions as well as some flexibility to play Iggy at the three.  Jermaine O’Neal’s flexibility is welcomed, as well as his abilities to notch 20 and 10 a night.  While the health issues are definitely prevalent with this squad, I have no issues in adding some more scoring with some long-range talent and highlight reels mixed in for good measure.  With a new home and bright outlook for this season, I’m going with…

Round 4, Pick 4 – Jason Richardson, SG, Charlotte Bobcats
