Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 4, Pick 3 - Jason Kidd
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: H2H, Southwest Division, Dallas Mavericks, Talent

Everyone who has ever played ball, at any level, knows the universal tell for being gassed is a guy bent over, tugging on his shorts. The vultures circle Jason Kidd this year, after he did not lead the Dallas Mavericks to any success in the playoffs, and while he played as the starter on the United States basketball team, from what I saw and heard, both Chris Paul and Deron Williams outplayed him and were used more down the stretch in games. Should Jason Kidd prepare to ride into the sunset on a hall-of-fame career?
Once a surefire first-rounder, the strengths and weaknesses in his game have established themselves for many years now. The question remains, has he slipped far enough in drafts that he now becomes very good value?

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft 2007: Round 6, Pick 1 - Jason Terry

People who follow “real” basketball probably have a small beef with Terry going at this point. After all, the Mavs have enjoyed much success in recent years, and “Jet” is one of the main reasons why.
We focus on fantasy hoops here. And thus, the perspective from this angle sometimes differs from reality. That is why all-stars like Tony Parker and Richard Hamilton have yet to see their names called in this draft blog, while some “questionable” players with known limitations in their game have been picked. Real life game sometimes does not translate into fantasy sports. Ask anyone who passed on Peyton Manning or Tom Brady multiple times while taking a running back who has never made the Pro Bowl.
So let us look into why Terry is more of a commercial airliner than a jet and how he stands to be good value at this point in the draft.

This guys made the all-star team last year. In the fantasy dome, he still has that upside people love to talk about. Agent Zero will drop mucho buckets for this team, but in J-Smoove and Crash, we have two fantasy studs who have not yet shown they can be 20 ppg scorers. And thus I passed on the remaining big men available to be taken around this point in the draft.

Round 5, Pick 10: Manu Ginobili, SG, San Antonio Spurs
Fantasy offseasons are all about pegging breakout players from year-to-year. After a stellar campaign two seasons ago, Manu Ginobili was seen going in the second and early third rounds last season. This level of draft position left many owners disappointed after there was an unexpected drop in Ginobili’s minutes, to less than 30 a game (27.9). This decrease in minutes attributed to a decrease across the board in nearly all fantasy categories… for the regular season.
Now, as we look at how Ginobili was used in the postseason, we saw an increase to 35 minutes a game against the Mavericks, including a foul-plagued 27 minute contest. And how did he respond when given the floor time?
