I come to you not even 48 hours after my beloved Cavs have been bounced from the playoffs. Paul Pierce, well played. Cleveland supporting cast, I wish I could stay the same. There’s a reason that LeBron James is the only Cavalier in this tournament. All I have to say is that Danny Ferry better get to work.
With that said, last week brought us a showcase of guard talent. This week takes a slightly different twist, bringing us a truckload of big men. While two of them are pictured to the right, there are a few more that will deserve some consideration.
Let’s cut to the chase and get on with this week’s match-ups.

To the three voters for the All-NBA team that did not name Chris Paul to the first team; you need to seriously have your head examined. Two voters picked Steve Nash instead and one vote went to Tracy McGrady. Come on, people! To pick Nash ahead of Paul means you have not watched ball since last season. The Hornets had a better record, Paul did more with less established talent around him, not to mention he had superior overall stats. As for McGrady, I guess it was a nod to the Rockets’ winning streak.
Nash was in action last week. Does he get to move on? Paul suits up this week, so check out who we have him partnered with? And the picture gives you a preview of who else is part of our hype match-ups this week!

Props to the Ironmen
The summer blockbuster season is almost upon us. NBA fans have already had a few blockbuster games in the playoffs; that double-overtime game between San Antonio and Phoenix was incredible.
In this retrospective article, we praise the players that played every single game, a luxury all fantasy owners know is few and far between. There are quite a few surprises on this list.

The shoot-out in the wild Western Conference has been great to follow, has it not? The top nine teams are separated by only 6.5 games. Every day the standings shift. Right now Phoenix sits in sixth while Dallas ranks seventh! This bodes well for fantasy owners as the best teams in the West should all be playing meaningful games down the stretch. Here’s a rundown of each team’s fantasy playoff schedule.

Cause I totally blew it with not getting up a Daily yesterday, I’m going extra big with tonight’s version. Please accept this humble offering with my sincere apologies and a pledge to do better next time. I suddenly feel like Tony Kornheiser. Um, yeah.
Anyway, a new name in fantasyland you’ll read about after the jump is this dude on the right, Jared Dudley. He now starts for Charlotte. He’s fun to watch. More importantly, his StatTracker line lighting up is fun to watch as well. Yeah, I know, but that’s what gets me excited these days.
The Fig Cap: I don’t have to wear warm-ups at the tip anymore!

Despite the Raptors/Pistons game starting in the middle of the day, the moon was shining brightly. Jamario Moon that is. In case you’re late to the Moon party, the undrafted 27-year-old rookie has started the Raptors last eight games at small forward and his athletic play is getting him noticed. Yesterday, the 6-8 forward erupted for the best line of his brief NBA career with 15 points, 9 boards, 3 steals and 6 blocks in the matinee victory. More info abou this Good Moon Rising after the jump.
The Fig Cap: His vertical leap is beyond all measurement. Don’t question it!

The Daily finds what’s shiny each night, brushes off the dirt to reveal any blemishes and then makes a fair assesment in regards to certain players’ fantasy values.
Look at that man on the right. He looks like a natural. He’s so tall, so athletic and oozes potential the way Gilbert Arenas oozes cockiness. He dropped 24 points in 24 minutes last night and he’s center eligible. Sounds like you should act swiftly, right? Not if you know how Swift acts. Only a sucka would pick him up. And you’re not a sucka.

Yeah, so Saturday night wasn’t as fantasy jam-packed as Friday night. Big deal. It’s not every night we see multiple 20-rebound games. Still, a few guys stayed hot and went off last night.
The Fig Cap: “Yeah, hey Raja, can you miss about 75 more games? Thanks bud.”

The Fig Cap: Hey, Agent Zero, why so glum? You’re number one in our rankings!
In “real” basketball, point guard is arguably the most difficult position to play since they are basically an extension of the head coach running the actual plays on the court. They have to know all the plays to run and have the ball in their hands the majority of the game. In fantasy basketball, point guards are just as important as they will be your main source of assists and a significant contributor in steals, three-pointers made, and/or free-throw percentage. Any big-time production in points, rebounds, and/or field-goal percentage are simply gravy on top of the meat. So, coming into the 2007-08 season, which point guard is tops for the position? I have one word for you – HIBACHI!

The Fig Cap: “Yeah, son, me and Emry will be rockin’ the joint tonight! Where you at, playa?!?!”
GUEST BLOGGER: Emry Downinghall from SLAM
A funny thing happened to Zach Randolph after posting a super healthy 23.7 points and 10.1 rebounds for Portland last season, he was shipped off to the New York Knicks for 30 cents on the dollar.
Z-Bo’s trouble off the court is well documented and with Greg Oden coming to town, and the emergence of LaMarcus Aldridge last season, Randolph was suddenly very expendable.
It’s impossible to know exactly what Portland was offered for Randolph, but it’s also hard to imagine a guy with his talent, at 26, could only net the Blazers Channing Frye and a second-round pick in 2008. Regardless, now that the smoke has cleared (perhaps a poor choice of words) Frye is in Portland, and Randolph will call MSG his home this season.
