Do-Over Mock Draft
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: NBA Draft, Old School, Site Features
Are you tired of reading the same mock draft article over and over? Have you had enough cheese with that whine they are serving in Boston? Perhaps there are visions of possibilities dancing in your heads after hearing about Kobe’s recent trade demand?
Welcome to the Dropping Dimes Do-Over Draft! We allow each franchise (remember when we called them teams? And “cities” were where they played?) to do-over one of their own draft picks. But unlike this re-writing of Celtics history, where Tim Duncan, Tracy McGrady and Steve Nash miraculously ended up on the same team and play together forever until everybody knows their names, this draft clings to some shred of reality.

Though seemingly very deep, this year’s fantasy drafts could easily see four point guards go off the board within the first 12 selections. The top tier of this season’s point guard class is obviously one that not only drops dimes at will, but also dominates in another category or two (whether they be scoring buckets, swiping rocks, or draining three-balls). This breakdown should not only give an idea as to what to expect from the top point men this season, but also to show that if you aren’t lucky enough to land one of the top five, your team will be sufficiently staffed with any of the top 25 mentioned here. We’re also starting to see an emergence of a “Point Guard by Committee” on a few teams, which may hurt the value of a few guys.
Without further ado, your 2006 fantasy basketball point guards.

Round 4, Pick 3: Mehmet Okur, FC, Utah Jazz
Is this thing on repeat? I feel like I’m becoming redundant with my selections for this squad, as I keep harping on the fact that I refuse to choose big men that will drag me down in any category. Yes, they may not produce as much as your typical NBA center (which, in fact, are decreasing in number year by year), but for all intensive fantasy purposes it is gold. Flying under the radar by many last season, including the Detroit Pistons, Mehemt Okur sprung onto the scene in a big way for fantasy owners.
Let’s dive into this blog like Vlade Divac in the lane, and I’ll tell you how Okur will be an asset to your squad this season.
