LaMarcus AldridgeDropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly.  Goodly is a word, right?  Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!!  Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Stat’s All Folks: HIBACHI!!!

Gilbert ArenasStat’s All Folks will be a week-to-week stock market look at the standard cumulative categories – points, assists, rebounds, three-pointers made, steals, and blocks.  I’ll be calling out the “bulls” and “bears” in each category, in order to help you assess your portfolio of players on your fantasy basketball team(s) and whether you should sell, hold, and/or diversify your assets.

Note that you won’t always see the superstar player written about in this column, otherwise it would be LeBron James or Steve Nash every week.  So, check out who’s bullish and who’s bearish coming into the week.

Statistics are through December 7th – December 13th.

POINTS

BULLISH

Gilbert Arenas, PG, Washington Wizards
Last Week’s Numbers of Note: 3 G; 35.7 PPG; 47.9 FG%; 78.1 FT%

What does Benihana and Arenas have in common?  HIBACHI!!!  Apparently, whenever Agent Zero takes a shot, he’s saying the word “hibachi” with each stroke.  This is just another example of Arenas’ quirky ways, but there’s no questioning it’s working, is there?  Arenas is scoring a little more than six points more in the month of December than he did in November, thanks to slicing to the basket and getting to the charity stripe almost ten times a game.  There hasn’t been this much success being off-kilter since Pee Wee Herman.  Arenas’ stock is high, so keep your hands on him.

Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 7, Pick 12

Andrew BogutOur draft blog wraps up with this pick. The season snuck up on us, so we will have to cut it short. The wrap-around pick at the end of the snake has been fun. This player was queued up by Sarge near the end of the sixth round, but a last-minute substitute happened when news of the injury broke. He seems like great value here.

Round 7, Pick 12: Andrew Bogut, PF/C, Milwaukee Bucks

Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 4 Recap

Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Site Features

Josh SmithThis round saw 33% of the picks go towards the C spot as the hypothetical draft we are drafting for starts two centers.  Excellent segue or not, at this point of the draft, let me catch you readers up on the logistics of the league.  First, the non-specific, we are not drafting for H2H or ROTO, in particular, so we’ll do our best to mention them in our blog posts.  Second, the positions - PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, C, Util, Util.  We won’t be drafting a bench (unless we have time), but hopefully from the Util picks we make you’ll get an idea of who we like at the latter end of the draft.  Of course, if you have questions or commments, please leave them below.

Thanks for stopping by Dropping Dimes.  Round Five is on the way.

4.1. Josh Smith, SG/SF, Atlanta Hawks
4.2. Kirk Hinrich, PG/SG, Chicago Bulls
4.3. Mehmut Okur, PF/C, Utah Jazz
4.4. Stephon Marbury, PG, New York Knicks
4.5. Peja Stojakovic, SF, New Orleans Hornets
4.6. Marcus Camby, C, Denver Nuggets

Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 4, Pick 1

Description
“BTW, Alvin, Wallace and Smith?  What, are you trying to go up against my awesome defensive combo of Marion and Big Ben?  You will lose every time!!!” Dennis Velasco, in an e-mail to the Dropping Dimes staff.

No, I am not going up against D’s awesome combo. Not that I am interested in an aging afro who averages 7 ppg and just got paid. And hey, Marion is Marion. FYI, the Dropping Dimes staff filled my inbox with several more messages in succession questioning my sanity. *sigh*

I have seen J-Smooth going earlier than this in drafts, usually in the third round. So I started to think of ways to justify the pick. Would I do this in real time with all the beans on the line? Probably not. But that is why I will do this here, so you our loyal readers (all seven of you, and I’m sure you are all loyal to my man, D!), can take a look and see if you want to take this gamble yourselves come draft day.

Round 4, Pick 1: Josh Smith, GF, Atlanta Hawks
