Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 3 - Carlos Boozer
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Disses, H2H, Props, Site Features, Talent, Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah Jazz
There comes a point in every fantasy draft where one must come to terms with the fact that he or she just may have to select a player that is despised for one reason or another. Perhaps the player was on a former team and he failed to live up to expectations (cough, Larry Hughes). Perhaps he plays for a team that has been the reason for personal disappointments, like say Boston topping Cleveland in nearly every sport for the past three years. Or perhaps a player used to be on a team that you root for, but he no longer is after things did not end well. Compounding this, consider the fact that the player may have conned his team in to allowing him to opt out of his contract early, only to bolt for a different team shortly thereafter. And for the example, pretend that the then owner of the team was an elderly blind man.
Oh, how I love fantasy sports….

Prospect Pro Specs: O. J. Mayo
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: NBA Draft, Site Features, Talent
The NBA crowd did not get much of a chance to see O. J. Mayo in March as his USC Trojans lost in the first round to Michael Beasley and Kansas State. The hype around Mayo has been noticeable for a couple of years now. If not for the NBA’s age-related draft eligibility rule, chances are Mayo would have skpped out on the college experience to head straight for the pros.
Cue all the condiment jokes/references e.g. hold the mayo and all that. This guy’s gonna make a GM, a franchise and their fan base pretty excited for next year.

Trade Deadline Fall-Out
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Trades, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Seattle Supersonics
What a week it has been. Obviously, the Cleveland-Chicago-Seattle deal set the NBA ablaze last night. I personally can’t wait for tonight’s Cavaliers game where they currently have six active players. Seven if Anderson Varejao comes back early. Eight if they let me suit up. Either way, LeBron James could easily go for 50 points tonight, so keep an eye on the box score.
Everyone else? There has defintely been some adjustments in certain player value over the past 24 hours. Let’s see who’s stock is up, and who’s may not be as hot as it once was.

Wire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist—all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time.
With the All-Star break right around the corner, a few teams within the Association cannot wait for it to get here thanks to several big injuries throughout the league. In fact, we’ve already had an All-Star game replacement as Kevin Garnett’s abdominal injury has opened the door for Detroit’s Rasheed Wallace to take part in the festivities. While he hopes the Western Conference puts Dirk Nowitzki opposite him on gameday, fantasy owners will be left to fill any void which they may have over the next few days. Below, you’ll see plenty of options for your backcourt, with a surprise mention for a second-half frontcourt presence. Could a certain big man ride off into the Sun-set with one last ring? No pun intended, of course…

If you have followed this column from the beginning, you know that I am a sucker for big men and point guards. Last week, I felt that I had shorted the readers a bit, recommending a slew of ‘tweener types, like Ryan Gomes, Marko Jaric and the like. Well, with Jaric deciding to put up near triple-doubles and then following those games up with next to nothing, I’m going back to my old ways. Injuries in Cleveland as well as a possible big-named trade in New Jersey pave the way for this week’s edition of WtW. Enjoy.

Larry Hughes, Meet Mark Price
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Central Division, Cleveland Cavaliers, H2H, Roto, Sleepers, Talent
There is no doubting that Larry Hughes’ career as a fantasy impact player reached it’s peak in 2004-05 during his final season on the Washington Wizards. You can also point back to 2000-01 when Hughes put up 22.7 points per game on the Golden State Warriors, but the increase in all other stats including steals (league leading 2.9/game) and rebounds during the ‘04 season takest the proverbial cake.
Since heading to Cleveland, Hughes hasn’t exactly lived in the spotlight by playing along side LeBron James. Brought to the Cavaliers to be the Pippen to LeBron’s Jordan, Hughes has barely kept his field goal percentage above 40%, his scoring has decreased year-over-year, and his free throw shooting has reached a career low.
The last team that needs this former 79.7% free throw shooter fluttering below 68% is the Cavaliers, so this offseason has brought one of the greatest free throw shooters in the history of the game in to Hughes’ life: Mark Price
