Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 3, Pick 6 - Andrew Bynum

Had Andrew Bynum been healthy all of last year, we may have a different World Champion team. There’s no doubt the Lakeshow missed his 2 blocks, almost 2 dimes, and more importantly, his 10 rebounds per and that huge inside presence. But that’s spilled milk. Most sites have Bynum ranked at about the 10th best center, and he’s the ninth taken in our draft. Check out why after the jump…

The shoot-out in the wild Western Conference has been great to follow, has it not? The top nine teams are separated by only 6.5 games. Every day the standings shift. Right now Phoenix sits in sixth while Dallas ranks seventh! This bodes well for fantasy owners as the best teams in the West should all be playing meaningful games down the stretch. Here’s a rundown of each team’s fantasy playoff schedule.

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft 2007: Round 5, Pick 11 - Lamar Odom

The Fig Cap: Lamar, cuz wrestle…for the ball is what he does.
Have you seen a “don’t-er” lately? What’s a “don’t-er,” you ask? They are everywhere. They operate by telling you what not to do. Don’t draft injured guys. Don’t draft rookies. Don’t do this. Don’t do that. Behind the scenes, they are the ones always making the stinging criticisms, because it is easier being the one to cut down an idea rather than the one trying to trail blaze with an original thought. In fantasy sports you can find lots of people that tell specialize in telling people what is wrong and should not be done…and with good reason…to a point. Guessing correctly who is a bust and who is a sleeper is part of the game. My beef is the reality of needing to roll the dice at some point in the draft is just as much a part of the game. Because taking 70 cents on the dollar every round by going with safe picks might guarantee a top half finish in your league, but the odds of winning it all are slim.
So let us now talk about what to do if you do end up drafting a guy like this.

Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly. Goodly is a word, right? Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts! But read the fantasy section HERE!

I am posting this for Ron. Sorry it is a bit late, but the season is still young, so we can still reflect on the first week of play. Ron laid down all the groundwork. As usual, it was a fun collaboration.
Ron: How ironic that in the first week of fantasy hoops, Alvin and I were pitted against each other in our H2H local fantasy league. The battle was fierce all week. Al was leading most of the week by varying degrees. Sub-par games by Lebron James (16-9-7), Tracy McGrady (8-3-4) and Baron Davis (2-2-6) on Saturday for Al’s team, opened the door slightly for a come-from-behind victory. Sad to say, I lost by one category.

“But critics say the Doc is soft, Doc is talk
The Doc is all washed up, knock it off
Who the ____ is Doc impressin’.
Doc is this, Doc is that, you got the wrong impression.
You must be on the ____ of Doc cuz Doc left you all guessin’.
So DJ take the needle and just drop it on the record.
We gonna have this ____________ hoppin’ in a second.”
Dr. Dre in “One Last Time (Encore)”
Okay, so things are not looking so good for this team. Pau Gasol being lost for 3-4 months is a tough pill to swallow. The Memphis Grizzlies will be lucky if he suits up for 50 games this season. Your friendly neighborhood fantasy doctor here thought a nice bigball team was on the way with Elton Brand and Gasol on the same team. So how do I regroup and have this team hoppin’ again?
