Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 4, Pick 5 - Michael Redd

Michael Redd vs Dirk Nowitzki
The talent pool must not have gone shallow yet if 20 point-per-game Olympians remain available in the fourth round. Adding this player to a team that has Dirk Nowitzki would have made for very sound strategy, but Dirk’s team picks next. On this particular team, he fills a glaring need.

Round 4, Pick 5: Michael Redd, SG/SF, Milwaukee Bucks

Prospect Pro Specs: O. J. Mayo

Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: NBA Draft, Site Features, Talent

O.J, Mayo driving towards the draftThe NBA crowd did not get much of a chance to see O. J. Mayo in March as his USC Trojans lost in the first round to Michael Beasley and Kansas State. The hype around Mayo has been noticeable for a couple of years now. If not for the NBA’s age-related draft eligibility rule, chances are Mayo would have skpped out on the college experience to head straight for the pros.

Cue all the condiment jokes/references e.g. hold the mayo and all that. This guy’s gonna make a GM, a franchise and their fan base pretty excited for next year.

Dropping Dimes Staff Rankings: Week 13

Gerald Wallace - Fantasy BasketballIt isn’t often that we have ourselves a five-game week for any team.  It also isn’t often that you would rather own Andrew Bogut than Chris Bosh.  Yes, you read that right.  As always, the Dropping Dimes staff is here for the lowdown on the rest of the Association.

Here’s a breakdown of this week’s games:

Beyond the Arc: Week 12

Description
I dunno if anyone’s been following REAL basketball (I know, I know, we aren’t supposed to care about that) but maybe you should take a look at the standings.  Some weird stuff is going on.  Washington a four seed?  What?  Portland a three seed?  Utah and Houston out of the playoffs?  I know it’s early, but wow.  Nobody called that in September and October.  But good for those up and coming teams (although I’m not so sure you can call the Wizards that).

Anyways, I’m done ranting, here’s the slate of games for next week: (1/14-1/20)

The Fig Cap: How old are you anyway?

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft 2007: Round 6, Pick 3 - Luol Deng

Luol Deng!
The Fig Cap: Everybody get down tonight. Everybody Luol Deng tonight.

Ron Chow is doing fine. He’s not sick. He’s not having relationship issues. He’s not stressed at work. He just has other things going on and needs to step away. Hopefully it is temporary. In the meantime, you can catch the little tribute for Ron here. Ron and I are co-managing a team in our Dropping Dimes Experts League this year. Luol Deng was drafted by Nels at Give Me The Rock with the 13th pick in the 3rd round, the 41st pick overall. Here, his name took quite a bit longer to come off the board.

Round 6, Pick 3: Luol Deng, SG/SF, Chicago Bulls

2007-08 Preseason Shooting Guards Ranking

Kobe Bryant

The Fig Cap: “Hey, D, you got a little mustard on your chin… yeah, right here.  Maybe you should stop eating, chubby, and concentrate a little more on these rankings.”

When you think of a shooting guard, you think jumpers, dunks, and basically, a lot of points being scored.  While all of that is true, in a fantasy basketball sense, you want players who do more than simply score and add to one to three categories.  And when you look at the top shooting guards, you’ll find that they contribute in several categories.  Surprisingly, the top guys in the two-guard game drop a lot of dimes, but maybe it shouldn’t be too surprising because basketball is a team game.  For your reading pleasure, the top shooting guards who will help your team win the fantasy game.

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft Blog 2007: Round 5, Pick 10 - Ben Wallace

Ben Wallace vs. Ben Wallace

The Fig Cap:  Defensive Ben Wallace vs. Offensive Ben Wallace… hmm… I’ll take defensive Ben Wallace even though he’s made of plastic.  Yeah, offensive Ben Wallace is.  Just.  That.  Bad.

Like the Fig Cap says, Big Ben’s offense is bad.  Bad and ugly.  Sort of like Wallace himself.  I mean, no offense, but if you saw him in a dark alley wouldn’t you “accidentally let yourself go” (in your pants)?  Okay, okay, so I’m stooping low to Kevin Smith type of humor, but I like that sort of thing.  In any case, it’s not all bad with Mr. Wallace as he can do other things very well that doesn’t include the basketball snapping twine.  For example, his hair brings great entertainment value - “Is it going to be braided or is it going to be Don King CRAZY?!?!?!”

Round 5, Pick 10: Ben Wallace, C, Chicago Bulls

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft 2007: Round 3, Pick 10 - Michael Redd

Michael Redd FLEX

The Fig Cap: “They say it’s all in the wrist, well, it doesn’t hurt to have some guns for biceps.”

Living in the New York City area, you experience many things that are dirty, smelly, bumpy, and must bring major disturbances to the Force. There aren’t too many things that go smoothly around these parts, my “game” back when I was single can be a testament to that.  Yeah, I’ve had my fair share of slaps across the face, looks of pure distaste, and mocking giggles thrown my way.  Now what does Michael Redd have to do with my former dating life?

Well, Redd’s stroke is the complete opposite of it… smooth.

Dropping Dimes One-on-One Tourney: Third Round Begins

Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: Site Features, Talent

Kobe vs. T-MacAs we approach the dog days of summer, our one-on-one tourney starts its stretch run. The quarterfinals run through next week, and then our final four square off at the end of the month. Free agents were allowed to officially sign their contracts this past week, and Rashard Lewis is now one very rich man. I neglected to include him in our tourney this year, and that seems like a glaring omission now. So it goes. I think ‘Shard is too busy counting his dollar bills this summer to participate anyways.
