Dropping Dimes One-on-One Tourney: Round 1, Games 15 and 16
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: Site Features, Talent
The first round of our one-one-one tourney concludes this week with two marquee bouts. Hopefully the Cavs are still alive and kicking when our second round kicks off. The likes of Kobe, KG and Agent Zero could await the winners of this week’s match-ups, as we hope to drive towards something along the lines of today’s Federer-Nadal match in the French Open. But first we survey the damage from last week.

Stat’s All, Folks: Just Like Mickey D’s, I’m Loving Chris Bosh
Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Disses, H2H, Injuries, Props, Rookies, Roto, Rumors, Site Features, Talent, Trades, Waiver Pick Ups
Stat’s All Folks will be a week-to-week stock market look at the standard cumulative categories – points, assists, rebounds, three-pointers made, steals, and blocks. I’ll be calling out the “bulls” and “bears” in each category, in order to help you assess your portfolio of players on your fantasy basketball team(s) and whether you should sell, hold, and/or diversify your assets.
Note that you won’t always see the superstar player written about in this column, otherwise it would be LeBron James or Steve Nash every week. So, check out who’s bullish and who’s bearish coming into the week.
Statistics are from February 1 - February 8
POINTS
BULLISH
Chris Bosh, PF/C, Toronto Raptors
Last Week’s Numbers of Note: 3 G; 30.7 PPG; 51.8 FG%; 87.2 FT%
Next weekend Bosh will be going to the All-Star game for the first time in his career as a starter (Thanks, Mark!). And looking at the trends for this season and his career, it won’t be the only time. In the past week, CB4 has flexed his scoring muscle like he owned Hulk Hogan’s 24-inch pythons! Check the scoring average trend for each month: November – 20.5 in 15 games; December – 20.5 in four games; January – 25.4 in 15 games; and 30.7 in three games thus far this month. In his last game, Bosh scored a career-high 41 points in a Young Beasts Down In The Box matchup against the Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard. CB4 even showed some clutch game by scoring 31 of those 41 points in the second half to lead the Raptors to victory. And if you have Bosh on your fantasy team, he’ll do the same for you. Brother!!!

POINTSBULLISH
Yao Ming, C, Houston Rockets
Last Week’s Numbers of Note: 4 G; 34.8 PPG; 50.9 FG%; 91.2 FT%
Usually, the top scorers are coming from everywhere BUT the center position. Indeed, the dominating scoring big man in the middle is a dying breed, but Yao Ming refuses to lay down softly and go the way of the Thighmaster. Face it people, Yao is here to stay unlike the Suzanne Somers product and he is undeniably the best center in the NBA. In his four games last week, Yao scored no less than 32 points in each contest and was feeling it so much he even attempted a trey from downtown! He miseed, but that’s about the only shot he’ll ever clang off the rim. And unlike other players that make a living down in the post, Yao hits his free throws allowing him to accumulate points from the charity stripe. Obviously, hold on to Yao like your league championship depended on it because it just might.

Dime Day, First Edition: Fantasy Trades
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: H2H, Roto, Site Features, Trades
Your weekend outlook has changed forever. Maybe you currently spend your Sundays glued to the television watching football. Maybe this day is the only time you consistently get to spend time with your loved one because of your work schedules. Whether Sundays are usually lazy or busy for you, they are usually good days. It’s time to add a little cinnamon to your french toast. What’s new with Sunday? Sunday is going to be Dime Day.
I’m going to use this space to talk about certain aspects of fantasy hoops. First up is trade talk. The first week of play is winding down. Yes it is early, but you can admit it. You have trades on the brain. If you did well this week, you’re thinking about how to sell high and improve your team. If your squad was slow out of the gate, you want to change things up before it is too late. Someone in my league tried to offer a fellow owner Rudy Gay for Paul Pierce. I pity that poor soul. Here’s a look at the types of trade offers you may come across this season.
