The Detroit Pistons ranked number four in our inaugural Fantasy 30. It has been about a week since Allen Iverson played his first game with his new team. Has there been enough evidence to see how things will shake down from the fantasy perspective? Let us take a closer look at the fantasy landscape with the “new” Detroit Pistons.

Early H2H MVPs?
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: H2H, Site Announcements, Talent

Yahoo leagues give fantasy GMs access to something they call “MVPs”; check it out if you ever have a chance. This tool looks at how many times a player makes up part of a roster in the top 500 public leagues. They have separate analyses for rotisserie and head-to-head leagues. Since our experts league is h2h, the focus is on that here.
Not surprisingly, a consensus top four pick headlines the list. Consider it an early Christmas if you are currently riding high with Amare Stoudemire packing lots of punch to your team. Interestingly, among the top 500 teams in public h2h leagues, Amare can be found on only 21.0% of them which translates into one in every five teams. According to “MVPs” here is a team of the players most connected to success after two weeks of play.

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 4, Pick 10 - Rasheed Wallace
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: H2H, Site Features, Talent, Detroit Pistons
To say that this team is stacked with scoring and solid percentages is a complete understatement. Obviously, few teams will be able to nab Deron Williams in the third round with his recent ascent up draft boards, but regardless. With three solid additions throughout the beginning of the draft, round four is now a time where we have to add a big man. I would hate to add one that would drag down the solid percentages that we already have; and if I could do so while adding some big-ball stats, even better.
The tenth pick in the fourth round is a great place to take a player who can do just that.

Dropping Dimes Two-on-Two Tourney: Round 1, Games 3 and 4

LBJ and his Cavs got the job done against the Washington Wizards in game one of their first round series. Confidence should be admired, but adding fuel to the fire against someone like LeBron seems like risky business. Just ask Chris Bosh’s girlfriend.
Let’s recap the opening two games and set up the two-on-two matches for the upcoming week.

Our one-on-one tourney was a blast to conduct last year and you can click on the link to check it out. Spoiler alert! The link takes you to the winner being crowned and the page has links to all of the match-ups.
So what better way to follow that up but to double the pleasure, double the fun and make it a two-on-two tourney, people! G’yeah! There are only four more days before the regular season comes to a close. Thankfully us hoopheads have two months of playoff action to look forward to, but fantasy play dies down in favor of baseball, golf and barbeque unless you and your buddies set up a playoff pool. So check back every Sunday and give us your ten cents for the match-ups we set up for you! Who will be the “Dynamic Duo” when all is said and done?

Dropping Dimes on the Daily – November 25, 2007

Despite the Raptors/Pistons game starting in the middle of the day, the moon was shining brightly. Jamario Moon that is. In case you’re late to the Moon party, the undrafted 27-year-old rookie has started the Raptors last eight games at small forward and his athletic play is getting him noticed. Yesterday, the 6-8 forward erupted for the best line of his brief NBA career with 15 points, 9 boards, 3 steals and 6 blocks in the matinee victory. More info abou this Good Moon Rising after the jump.
The Fig Cap: His vertical leap is beyond all measurement. Don’t question it!

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft 2007- Round 6, Pick 8 - Ben Gordon

The Fig Cap: “That guy is behind me again, staring, isn’t he? Can’t say I blame him.”
“Ben Gordon is a one-dimensional player that only scores,” is what many BG Naysayers would, well… say… in a naying fashion. However, I would retort back, “You’re right! But, what’s wrong with that, suckas?!?!?!” Okay, maybe I wouldn’t use the word, “suckas,” but that’s totally dependent on if any of the said naysayers is bigger and more muscular than me. Otherwise, I’m puffing out my chest, flexing my arms (and shaking uncontrollably since this isn’t a natural thing to do), and putting the mean mug on. I sort of say it in jest, but is scoring all Gordon can do?

2007-08 Preseason Power Forward Rankings
Posted by Brandon Haraway Categories: H2H, Props, Roto, Site Features, Sleepers, Talent, Trades

Power forward is likely the most important position in fantasy basketball. They can knock out FG%, FT%, rebounds, points, and blocks with only one of your picks. If you draft them right, they can allow you to go cheap at center, the least deep position in fantasy hoops. There is so much depth at the four spot that you can get lucky and take an elite power forward early or wait for one later on. Remember also that the majority of good centers are power forward eligible, adding to the aforementioned depth. However, you’ll probably want to play those F/C players at center, but it’s nice to have options and flexibility while you’re drafting.
