Wire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist – all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time.
Even though we’re in the final session of the fantasy playoffs, you can cure your Head-to-Headache by keeping an eye on a few key players over the final few games. I’m not going to delve into stats too much this time around, but give you the quick and dirty over who should be on your radar going forward.

The final session of the fantasy playoffs are upon us. If you haven’t had to deal with the loss of any stars this season, I commend you as you’re truly an anomaly this season. The recent additions of Gilbert Arenas and Michael Redd to the list of stars to bite the dust should have owners scrambling for last minute replacements. It’s unfortunate that the players that got you to where you are today can no longer help you, but such is the life in the fantasy basketball playoffs. Here are this week’s recommendations…
(Editor’s Note: I apologize for the delay on this. Had some technical difficulties at the end of last week)

Matt Satten from ProFantasySports gave you a few possible late season names to add in his latest column. I’ll take it a step further this week and keep the ball rolling with my latest installment of Wire to Wire. Check out Matt’s piece, but for now, here are this week’s recommendations.
(Editor’s Note: I apologize for the lack of pictures, as I’m having difficulty uploading files. Hopefully I can edit some in within a day or two. Thanks!)

A lot of common names are mentioned this week. Some have received elevated playing time due to injuries, while one specific baller will get more time simply because he’s on the same team as Ron Artest. Add John Salmons to the list of players who got a late- season boost thanks to playing with Artest at any point in their careers. We may be adding this to future theories for drafting purposes. Until then, we’ll just focus on players that you can add this week to get you to the playoffs.

While the center position has given plenty of owners fits over the last few months, the recent demise of many guards have left owners in a bind. From Baron Davis and Dwyane Wade to the recent additions of Shaun Livingston and Sam Cassell, it just hasn’t been pretty for point guards as of late. While I definitely recommend checking out my colleague Ron Chow’s Injury Lowdown, the waiver wire help will be tackled below. On to this week’s recommendations…

Only a few nights back from All-Star weekend, and we’ve already had our first superstar go down with a major injury. All-World guard Dwyane Wade could miss up to six weeks with a separated shoulder. While this is truly unfortunate, it will provide a lot of opportunities for other players. Couple this with a few teams experiencing holes of their own, and we have ourselves yet another week of solid waiver wire potential.

One week down, many more to go. The first week of the NBA season, though short, gives NBA fans as well as fantasy owners an idea of what coaches have in mind for their rotations. We see which players are actually going to receive some burn, while others were simply preseason mirage with a side dish of hype. As you may see from my last installment, I’d say I hit about .500, falling into the hype trap on a few – but hitting for solid contact on others. And, if I may add, I’m quite a fan of Yahoo! using entire player names within their database. Too many Jones’, if you ask me. Plus, it just looks better. Anyways, with a week down, this week’s WTW will allow us a slightly larger sample size. Of course, there are others that may have been worth the mention, but given the circumstances, I felt these were the twelve worth the word. Enjoy.
